ISO 9001:2015 positioning statement

Following the work of ISO working group TC 176/SC2, the revised international quality management system standard ISO 9001:2015, is available from National Standards Bodies from 23 September 2015.

The common management system framework introduced by Annex SL, means that ISO 9001:2015 contains significant changes throughout.  The main changes relate to the revised, standardized and common 10 clause structure that will be used by all management system standards.  ISO 9001:2015 does not however contain the detail of terms and definitions.  Terms and definitions have been placed in the normative reference standard ISO 9000:2015 that has been developed in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015.

Purchasing ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 9000:2015 will help to ensure that the individuals responsible for managing the transition process have a full understanding of the new and changed requirements in the standard, as well as enabling them to start thinking about the necessary steps they need to take to facilitate a smooth transition.

Organisations should ensure that they understand both the specific areas that contain new explicit requirements (which include organisational context, knowledge and risk-based thinking) as well as the areas of the standard that have been revised or contain more specific information (such as the importance of senior management engagement, as well as process and change management).

For any organisation, the degree of change required depends on a range of factors, with the majority of those being unique to the context of the organisation and their QMS.

With all the major ISO standards being revised, LRQA is at the forefront of communicating the changes. We offer a range of assessment services as well public and in-house training courses, all aimed at helping to ensure that organisations worldwide have a smooth transition to the new standards.
