LRQA ISO Standards Update; News from Galway - ISO 9001 revision on track for 2015

The ISO Technical Working Group (TC176 SC2) responsible for revising international quality management system standard ISO 9001 met in Galway, Ireland, last week. With the Draft International Standard (DIS) being approved earlier this month, the meeting saw over 100 experts and observers coming together to review the 3000+ comments relating to the DIS.

“Following the meeting, our current information indicates that there will be no major changes to the requirements from the DIS stage, although there will be some editorial modifications. We also understand that the technical committee is working to reduce the overall length of the document,” said Steve Williams, LRQA System and Governance Manager.

Another meeting will be held in February 2015 to finalise the outputs from Galway and as a result, it appears that the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) is still on schedule for publication in March 2015.

Through LRQA’s membership of the Independent International Organisation for Certification (IIOC), LRQA participates in all of the major committees helping to shape the future of the world’ leading ISO standards including ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
