LRQA has been invited to participate at one of the world’s leading events in the sustainability arena – the Global Conference on Sustainability and Reporting which is taking place in Amsterdam during 22-24 May 2013. The event attracts over 1500 leaders and practitioners from business, finance, accountancy, consultancy, civil society, government, labour and academia in discussing the key challenges and opportunities on the path to a more sustainable future.
LRQA will be represented by Hidemi Tomita (Demi) who is LRQA Japan’s Business Planning & Marketing Manager. Demi joined LRQA from Sony where he was responsible for their Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) programme and has exceptional credentials in the CSR arena; Demi has represented Japanese business as the Chair of the Stakeholder Advisory Group of the ISO 26000 Post Publication Organisation, he is a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and was also an Advisory Member of CDP (LRQA is a verification partner of CDP - formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project - and works closely with them to push verification up the corporate agenda).
At the event itself, Demi will be among the Japanese delegation (which consists of leading CSR and sustainability reporting figures from various sectors), and their session is entitled Sustainability in the Era of Resilient Growth in Japan. This session will present a unique insider’s look into the sustainability trends that have emerged from the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan in 2011. Two years since the event, Japan has witnessed resilient recoveries in the business sector through enhanced stakeholder engagement and the session will explore the current state of such emerging sustainability trends in corporations and NGOs alike.
Commenting on his upcoming participation at the event, Demi said “I am delighted to have been invited to participate at what is one of the key conferences in the global sustainability event calendar. Alongside a packed agenda, the GRI will also be launching its new G4 reporting standard at the conference and corporate interest in this will be very high. “
Leading organisations are showing the way with greater transparency and more responsible practices. Sustainability reporting adds value: Around the world, thousands of organisations now report their economic, environmental, social and governance performance.
